Predictors of Stress, Recovery, and Pain Associated with Running in Amateur Runners

Resumen

El running se ha establecido como una actividad física de alta popularidad, caracterizada por su accesibilidad y su contribución significativa al bienestar físico y psicológico. Sin embargo, investigaciones han señalado que una práctica inadecuada puede generar consecuencias negativas, afectando tanto el rendimiento como el disfrute de quienes lo practican. Esta investigación analizó cómo la influencia de la calidad del sueño, la calidad total de recuperación y la disposición a la atención plena influyen en la percepción de estrés y recuperación en corredores de fondo, así como en la presencia de dolor asociado al running. Se realizó un estudio transversal con 84 participantes (34.5% mujeres, 65.5% hombres; 34.55 ±12.52 años; 170.08 ±9.15 cm de estatura; 72.84 ±12.80 kg de peso). Se evaluaron variables como la Escala de Recuperación y Estrés Agudo, el Índice de Calidad de Sueño de Pittsburg, la Calidad Total de Recuperación (TQR), la disposición a la Atención Plena y la percepción de dolor asociado al running. Los datos se analizaron mediante regresión logística para determinar relaciones predictivas. Los resultados revelaron que el TQR y la atención plena predicen positivamente la percepción de recuperación física, mental y total, mientras que el sueño deficiente se asocia con mayores niveles de estrés emocional y general. La disposición al mindfulness también mostró efectos positivos en la regulación del estrés muscular, evidenciando su potencial para favorecer estados óptimos de relajación y autoconciencia corporal. Asimismo, la percepción de estrés muscular predijo el dolor asociado al running. No obstante, variables como la calidad de sueño no predijeron significativamente el dolor asociado al running. En conclusión, la calidad de recuperación, el sueño y la atención plena son factores clave en la preparación de corredores, destacando la necesidad de estrategias que optimicen estos aspectos para mejorar su rendimiento y bienestar psicológico.
